Music And Stimulus Choices (2)

For my stimulus, I have chosen the Graffiti artwork by Banksy called the "Flower Thrower" or "Flower Bomb"I have chosen this as a stimulus as it conveys a strong message of replacing the violence and anger at war with peace and love. This is conveyed through the visible contrasts purposefully chosen. For example, there is a contrast in colour between the man and the flowers. The mans posture clearly shows his anger however this contrasts with the flowers which symbolise peace and compassion needed for each other. I have chosen this stimulus also as it shows the real problems faced today and how we can resolve them.

For my music, I have chosen "Chronicles Of A Hero" by Eternal Eclipse. I have chosen this music as there is a feeling of terror and distress, which comes with war. However there's an underlying tone of hope, represented in a minor chord, which could represent the need to replace the violence with peace. The use of more light-hearted feel mixed with the aggressive tone helps to convey how people, in a sense, should fight with love. The contrast in major and minor chords shown in this piece can reflect the contrast of colour in the stimulus. By editing this music towards the climax, it can create more of a dramatic effect on the piece overall.

Overall, I would like to convey the message of finding peace by demonstrating the phrase, "kill them with kindness". I can help to achieve this by complementing my movement with the music, and using them together to display the strong need and want of thousands, for war and violence to end.

In order for my piece to reflect this stimulus, I need to investigate more about the reason why Banksy initially wanted to create this artwork, as well as how this may have impacted country's in war today. This will then help me to create more depth in my piece and help to show why there is need for peace instead of war. For this research, I can use a range of different websites as inspiration for creating movement which reflects this.
